🤝Connecting to OTCHouse

Connecting your Web3 wallet (Metamask) to our site (OTCHouse) and BNB Chain - the Blockchain hosting our project.

For reference, the creators of the BNB Chain have their own tutorial on connecting your Metamask wallet that you can view here.

Now that you have installed the Metamask wallet you need a place to interact with to put your new Web3 wallet to use and engage with your digital tokens.

One of such places is the BNB Chain developed by Binance, which is one of the top digital exchanges. BNB Chain allows you to communicate with OTCHouse.

To interact with BNB Chain, you will first need to acquire a small amount of the BNB token. This is the native token of the BNB Chain and is used to pay GAS - the fee for interacting with the chain. The simplest way to acquire this is to go to bnbchain.world/en, charge your account with the fiat currency of your choice and purchase. You are also able to purchase using a credit card.

BNB Chain has an excellent tutorial on registering and setting up an account with them here

Before we go further, however, it’s important that we clear up some conceptual background. BNB Chain supports the BEP-20 token standard, while Binance Chain, the home of Binance DEX, supports the BEP-2 token standard. If you’d like to use dApps like OTCHouse on BNB (formerly BSC), you’ll need BEP-20 tokens.

*** PLEASE NOTE BNB is the rebranding of Binance Smart Chain (BSC) not all applications have updated to represent this change.

Please make sure to select BSC Chain (BEP-20) when withdrawing funds to your external wallet.

In the picture above, you can see just below “Account 1” is the address. This is known as your public key - as opposed to your private key mentioned earlier. The public key functions similarly to your email address. To send or receive tokens, provide this address here. There is a copy button beside the address for ease of use, but please make sure to triple check addresses - particularly the first and last 4 characters before hitting that send button. It is to this address that you will need to send your funds from Binance.

Adding Binance Smartchain to MetaMask

To interact with the OTCHouse website, you will first need to be connected to the correct blockchain with your Metamask application. Note that this should happen automatically, but if it doesn’t, please go through the steps outlined below.

First open your Metamask wallet by clicking on its icon (orange fox face) that you can see at the bottom right of the iphone screen. Click on the three small horizontal blue lines at the top left corner and click on “settings”.

Select “networks” at the bottom, click “add network”. On the “New RPC Network” page fill in the information below then click “add”.

Network Name: Smart Chain New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/

ChainID: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com

By clicking on “Wallet” at the top center of your Metamask main page you are able to switch between “Ethereum Main Network” and “Binance Smart Chain”. You are ready to go! Again, please note that The Monkey Firm is hosted on the BNB Chain, and as such you will always need to be connected to Smart Chain.

You are now fully ready to interact with OTCHouse and start minting your own token-backed NFTs.

To begin your journey, navigate to our website, connect your wallet via the “Connect” button on the top right of the screen, click through the Metamask pop-up that asks for your permission and you’re set to go minting!
